Persons with disabilities are the fastest growing segment of the population and they are comprised of people from all races, ages and economic backgrounds. This population segment is also the single largest minority group seeking employment in today’s market. We believe that this underutilized talent pool of Iowans can be a valuable resource to a growing Iowa economy.

There are 446,665 people in Iowa who report a disability.
71.9% of Iowans with a disability have a high school degree or higher.
10.4% of Iowans with disabilities have a Bachelor degree or higher.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau (2000) only 56% of people with disabilities that are of working age are employed, as compared to 74% of the general population.
